Regular Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) are essential practice for any property, as wires can deteriorate over time. Your property could quickly be deemed no longer safe and compliant with current regulations. As the duty holder, this puts you at risk of liability for an electrical incident, including any fire damage to the building, and injuries sustained by a member of the public.
An EICR, which is also referred to as Periodic Testing or an Electrical Safety Check is the examination, testing and certification of the electrical circuits contained within a client’s property. This includes the socket outlets, lighting and all other circuits. As an electrical testing specialist, we manage all types of domestic electrical testing projects, providing EICR certificates in accordance with BS 7671.
The Institution of Electrical Engineering and Technology (IET) recommends:
- Domestic installations should be tested 10 yearly or with change of occupancy
- Landlord Property installations should be tested 5 yearly or with change of tenant
